Crossroads Medical Centers Selects Misys EMR® To Keep Family Practice 50 Years Young

Minnesota multi-site practice continues to innovate with new healthcare technology

RALEIGH, N.C. – July 10, 2007 – Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, has signed a major contract with Minnesota-based Crossroads Medical Centers, P.A. to equip the multi-site family practice with the latest generation of Misys EMR (Electronic Medical Records) technology. Scheduled for installation before year end, the new EMR system will give the 11 physicians and clinicians at the multi-specialty practice an advanced foundation for improving both patient care and clinical workflows.

The planned upgrade to electronic patient records and a more paperless environment at Crossroads Medical Centers (CMC) will be handled by integrating its new EMR capabilities with an existing Misys Tiger® practice management system installed four years ago. As part of its transition plans, the practice also will enhance patient interaction and communications by adding a Misys PatientLink™ system to its operations. This web-based portal can allow Crossroads’ patients to complete forms and paperwork online, request appointments, pay medical bills, and access post-visit follow-up information or educational materials the practice wants to share.

“Our practice may be 50 years old,” said CMC’s Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director, Theodore A. Groskreutz, M.D., “but we’re still learning every day. Keeping pace with changes in medical information technology is the only way to stay competitive and still give patients better care, better choices, and better value for their healthcare dollar. Our investment in Misys EMR is a prime example. While it sets the stage for future growth and improvements, it enables near-term enhancements in workflow efficiency, patient data access, practice reporting and billing cycles, and patient care.”

Staying at the forefront of healthcare IT remains an ongoing goal for Crossroads Medical Centers. With the patient portal scheduled for early deployment and the EMR system following before yearend, CMC is already evaluating Misys eScript™, an electronic prescription solution, as another capability that delivers benefits to both the practice and its patients.

“Smart practices like CMC represent a prime example of adopting a value-based perspective on healthcare IT,” said Kelley Schudy, sales vice president for Misys Healthcare Systems. “If the decision point on new technology is the ability to deliver results – in terms of clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, or business success – then you’ve found the return on your investment that makes it all worthwhile.”

Located some 25 miles southwest of Minneapolis, Crossroads Medical Centers began treating patients in 1957. Today, the practice operates from three locations serving the communities of Chaska, Prior Lake, and Shakopee. Healthcare IT capabilities are centered at the Chaska facility with high-speed, high-bandwidth network connections providing access to the other two locations.
